David Hockney: A Bigger Splash

David Hockney
A Bigger Splash
1967
The following piece from David Hockney is a pop art painting called A Bigger Splash. It's measurements are 242.5 cm by 243.9 cm, acrylic on canvas. What I liked about this specific piece of work is that the painting is realistic. The artist added exact details of how the water of a pool would look like if someone jumped in. As well as, it's interesting how Hockney painted this without making the figure who jumped in the pool visible. Overall in my opinion, he did a good job in the combination of colors, which gives the painting a modern, tropical field. He painted this when he was California, therefore the painting represents a typical California setting.
