Cindy Sherman-- untitled 1976-2000
Cindy Sherman is an American photographer who is known for her bizarre self-portraits that deals with gender and self-identity. She created a volume of art called untitled (1976-2000) which is made up of dozens of black and white photos featuring Cindy herself. All of the photos are taken at a further distance with a model wearing various costumes and placed in different positions. Each character holds a different meaning regarding self-identity. Though it is the same individual, all the photos look like different people. This photo looks like an older woman who is riding the bus after grcery shopping. The placement of the chair and model, though roughly in the center, is pleasing to the eye due to its simplicity along with the black and white appearance.
