2003
Cindy Sherman poses has a clown for some of her recent work. During this period, she explored different character traits of a clown. I read online that she used heavy makeup to create extreme facial expressions, masking genuine emotion seems to comment on the multiple selves we all present to the world. Her photographs have a deeper meaning than what you may realize when first looking at it. In one way to another she display the idea of gender and identity in her work. The image above caught my attention because of the visual appearance. The usage of makeup, wardrobe, and hair is really interesting to me. When I first saw this I was intrigued and wanted to know more about this specific artwork.
