Announcement and Hook Up

I liked "Announcement" because at first glance it reminded me of overthinking and over-analyzing. It gives off a sense of anxiousness as the page fills with scribbles. As you get closer, words are more defined and after reading the artist's statement, we learn it is a political speech. I personally don't feel the artist when they said " it reminds me of how easy it is to zone out of a sermon or a lecture or a political speech" because I feel more of a hysterical vibe opposed to "zoning out". As for their piece "Hook Up" I did not like it for two reasons. One, it just looks like two magazine pages and two, it glamorizes the idea of loveless sex and cheating; or as the artist put it "woe be upon them who haven't kept up and asked their neighbor's wife to hook up later".
