This painting is called Reverse. It was painted in 2002-2003. This painting is a self portrait of the artist Jenny Saville. The painting is of Jenny laid down on the floor, which shows her reflection. Her eyes are beaming straight into the viewer's eyes. The eyes look lifeless, as if she is dead. It is red around her mouth, up to her nose. As if it is blood. To me, this painting looks like a picture of Jenny dead on the floor with blood on her face. It's very disturbing to look at but hard to not stare and look into her eyes. But I do like how realistic she painted herself. It's different from her other paintings where it is odd and the person is disfigured. She is proportionate in this painting, so it gives it a more realistic feeling which makes it more disturbing.
