This piece, by Jenny Saville, is titled torso II which we as the viewer can infer is the remains of a once-living being. It is an oil-based painting that was released in 2004 but was not placed on the market for sale. Many of Saville's workings revolve around the theme of flesh and it's unpleasant yet transfixing presence. This piece definitely gives me vibes from the t.v show Dexter, which is about a serial killer and his obsession with blood. The gore is not the part that makes me feel uncomfortable about her work, rather it's her unusual choice of body positioning and oddly warped parts. I can say that I enjoy her deep color choices but that's about it.
