Jenny Saville Painting

Jenny Saville

In this painting, Jenny Saville uses different paint colors to emphasize the impurities of ones skin or flesh. The nose and mouth are slightly enlarged and the coloring on the lips make them look cracked. Saville paints women in a way that's different than what the "ideal" women looks like. The women in the image appears to have somewhat wet or greasy hair and swollen, red eyes. It is not something that we would normally see as beautiful, but in a way it is because it is portraying real women.
